Born and raised in the Twin Cities, I got my start in clay at Pacific Lutheran University, where David Keyes gave me a solid foundation. After graduation I returned home to discover Minnesota's vibrant clay community with many opportunities to keep learning and making pots.
I gravitate toward pots with simple forms. Most of my work is functional stoneware with wax-resist designs drawn on the surface with layers of glaze. I also enjoy drawing through slip, and making my own texture stamps, including stamps made from my drawings. Teaching is a big part of my practice. The spark of discovery, the exchange of ideas, the joy of creating and building community - all of these feed my spirit and keep me coming back for more.
Currently, I teach pottery classes at Plymouth Community Center. You can see me and my work at several local art fairs each year.
